Series: Applied Functional Materials

Series Editor: Sudheesh K. Shukla

Scope: Applied Functional Materials (AFMs) are being vigorously studied as they have different mechanical, organic, and soft materials absorption (glasses, colloids, liquid crystals, polymers), optical, and electrical properties than pristine nanomaterials. Therefore, it is an interesting area of research to functionalize materials for diverse kinds of applications. The exploration of materials occurs in their functionalized forms, which is very dis-similar from the parent material. As a result, applied functional materials can play vital roles in many industrial procedures, such as increasing sensitivity, magnifying precision, and improving the production limit, cost reduction, and simplification of modern technology.

In this book series, we will seek volumes related to this multidisciplinary area of research. The functionalization of materials at the nanometer scale opens a new platform of modern scientific innovation for device fabrication, energy, environment and healthcare applications. AFMs are engineered materials to design a new material for the development of devices; smart materials and biomaterials that have the advantages of unique properties of nanoscale materials.

About the Series Editor:
Dr. Sudheesh K. Shukla works in the area of translational research and development of bioelectronics devices for disease alert and disorder with major focus on interfacing the chemistry (materials science) and engineering for better healthcare (biology) and environmental applications. In particular, Dr. Shukla is interested in integrating biomaterials with micro- and nanosystems for sensing and actuation technologies. Currently, his research involves real-time analysis of biochemical markers for personalized healthcare and environmental monitoring. He conducted his research in South Africa, India, China, Israel, and Sweden.
Dr. Shukla’s distinct educational and research background and hands-on experience have contributed to his emergence as a highly knowledgeable nano-scientists in the field nano-bioengineering and nanotechnology. He is author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as a prolific author and editor of several scientific monographs in healthcare, energy and environmental disciplines.
